All about a beautiful path in Kyoto with cherry trees along canal like a stream from Lake Biwa. You can enjoy Japanese great landscape when walking on the path called "Philosopher's Walk".

Ginkakuji in the early morning with snow

When should you visit Ginkakuji-temple in this cold season? The answer is snowy day, especially in the early morning. Ginkakuji-temple opens at 8:30 in the morning. Go and visit there exactly at 8:30, and you'll see a fairy-tale landscape. Have you ever seen Chinese or Japanese black and white ink brush drawings painted only with black ink ? I want you to visit there in the early morning, and you'll feel as if you were in black and white drawings.
If you wake up late and visit Ginkakuji around noon, breathtaking scenery would be ruined as hundreds of people would left a considerable number of footprints all over the snow field before you visit.
When it snows, I recommend you to change your plans and to visit Ginkakuji first of all.
You can see the other sight in snow in my photo album from the highest point at Ginkakuji temple. I myself took the picture and put it on a scanner.
